Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1) Who can enroll for the one-year courses ?
Anyone who has passed 12th standard and is above the age of 18.

2) Who can enroll for the weekend courses ?
There is no criteria for enrollment. But if the person is below 18 years of age, he or she will have to get a letter from his or her guardian

3) Does the courses guarantee jobs or placements ?
Udaan does not guarantee jobs or placements, but will assist in every way possible to see that the students are able to start their career at the earliest and in the best possible way.

For students of one-year photojournalism course, Udaan will try to get internships for all its students in leading newspapers and magazines. Thats an opportunity for the students to prove themselves and join the organisation. Many leading photojournalists have started their careers in similiar fashion. We also have a in-house news photography agency called 'Indus Images' - several of our former students are employed there.

For students of one-year commercial photography course, Udaan will try to get apprenticeship for all its students with established photographers. Thats an opportunity for the students to further learn from their mentors and eventually start on their own. Many leading commercial photographers have started their careers in similiar fashion.

4) What all do I require to bring to the one-year course ?
The students joining the one-year courses will have to bring at least one laptop, one  DSLR camera, one wide zoom, one tele zoom and one flash. And prefereably a tripod and a remote trigger, though thats not a must.

5) What all do I require to bring to the weekend course ?
A DSLR camera with the kit lense is preferable, though thats not a must. Udaan does provide cameras to a select few, on a first come, first serve basis.

6) Is the certificate given by Udaan recognised by the Indian government ?
No. But in the field of photography, photographer's portfolio is the biggest certificate. Infact in commercial photography, there is no concept of a job and most of the successful photographers are independent photographers.

And in photojournalism, most of the photo-editors do not bother much about certificates, but about your portfolio and your ability to shoot on the ground.

7) Can I pay the course fee in installment ?
Yes, one can pay in three installments, but it will also make the fee costlier

8) Will the school help me in getting an accommodation in Mumbai ?
