The most powerful use of the camera is to capture reality. This is what makes photography different from other art forms.  And in Photo Documentary, art meets relevance - a powerful mix, that can greatly influence individual and public opinion. Its visual story telling of real moments, real emotions & real issues. Udaan's Documentary Photography course aims to impart creative skills, visual aesthetics, and ethics of visual storytelling, from the very best documentary photographers of the country.

While many photography enthusiasts, delving in street or landscape photography are good in shooting single pictures, most lose their way when it comes to Documentary Photography. It is surprising to see how even good photographers seem clueless when it comes to meaningful storytelling through a series of images.  It’s not just about the shooting, but also about the understanding, researching and selection of stories, planning for it, the ethics involved, the editing, selection and sequencing.  And of course, at its core, the photography. The best of stories, transcend time and space !

If interested in becoming a creative and an effective Documentary Photographer,  this is a one-of-its kind course  that will empower you, on your photographic journey.

The answer is simple. It’s one of the biggest in India and perhaps the biggest
in Mumbai with a premise of over 10,000 square feet area, solely dedicated to photography. The regular faculty is vast
and comprises award winning photographers, including India’s only Pulitzer Prize nominee in Photography.   Added to it there have been many a
legend who have been visiting faculty
and guest speakers at Udaan. And most importantly the list of Udaan’s notable alumni is long and impressive.
Something we are very proud of....
